Frances Dicks

July 6, 1936 — April 3, 2011

Frances Fay Dicks was born in Jackson, Minnesota on July 6, 1936 to James and Frances Ray. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson. She received her first eight years of formal education in Peace Memorial Catholic School and finished at Jackson High School. She worked for PG Grays in Estherville, Iowa, and Fairmont Canning Factory in Fairmont, Minnesota. On October 8, 1954, she married Albert "Lefty" Dicks at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. The young couple later moved to Montevideo where Frances worked for MTI. She enjoyed a 34 year career before her retirement. Frances enjoyed ceramics, many crafts, the time she spent as a supervisor, and as a member of the Guardian Council of Job's Daughters. She especially loved fishing and spending time with "Lefty" her beloved husband of 56 years. They traveled many states in their earlier years, enjoying all the wonders and beauty of the mountains, lakes and rivers that God created. Frances loved children and they all loved her, many calling her Mom and Grandma. She had a heart of gold and her smile would light up the room. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. On Wednesday evening, while a patient at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital, with her beloved husband by her side, the Lord wrapped his arms around her and called her home.Cherishing her memory are her husband Albert of Montevideo, her siblings Anita Elness of Windom, Don Ray of Aurora, Janice Ray of Sherburn, sisters-in-law Josephine Schweers, Donna Diman and Eleanor Dicks as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Frances, an infant brother, niece Lisa Ray, and brothers-in-law: Russell Elness, Theodore Dicks, Victor Dicks, Bob Leuth, and Donald Dicks; sisters-in-law: Pat Dicks and Dorothy Leuth and Lefty's parents: Rosco and Elsie Dicks. May all our memories of her be blessed
