Floyd D. Zempel passed away September 26, 2014 in the Golden Years home in Olivia, Minnesota. He was born April 8, 1928 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Tillie (Eggers) and Edward Zempel. He and his twin brother, Lloyd, were the youngest of the Zempel's nine children. He attended country school through 8th grade. He joined the army in 1946. After returning home, the twins joined another brother, LeRoy in an interior decorating business, located in Granite Falls. They worked in a large part of southern Minnesota. Floyd loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved music and could usually be found singing something.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arleen (Lange); one son, Lenn (Diane) of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two daughters: Marsha (Calvin) Harms of Clara City, and Wanda Erickson of Mankato; three granddaughters: Melissa (Craig) Grossman of Buffalo, LaNae (Jay) Harms-Okins of St Joseph , Kristy (Arron) Enger of Montevideo; four grandson's: James (Rachael) Zempel of Janesville, Wisconsin, John (Rochelle) Zempel of Mankato, Joseph Erickson and Christopher Erickson of Mankato; four great grandson's: Noah Erickson, Rhett Enger, Kincaid Enger and Aiden Okins; one sister Dolores Klaussen of Clara City, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
