Florence Jackson Prindle was born on Sunday, October 1, 1922 in Minneapolis Minnesota to Joel Frederick and Lucille Harrison Jackson. She was baptized at the Linden Hills Congregational Church in Minneapolis and confirmed her faith at the same altar. After graduating from West High School in Minneapolis with the Class of 1940, she continued her formal education at the University of Minnesota. On April 25, 1942, Florence was united in marriage to William Day Prindle, Jr. and their union was blessed with five children. Shortly after their marriage, Bill graduated from law school and went into the United States Army. After his release from active duty, Florence and Bill moved to Olivia, Minnesota where Bill commenced his law career. Two years later, they moved to Montevideo where they raised their family. In 1986, the couple retired to Deuel County, South Dakota. While in South Dakota, they formed Deuel Enterprises, Inc, a family bible publishing company which produced two updatings of the Authorized (King James) Version of 1611: The 21st Century King James Version (1994) and The Third Millennium Bible (1998).Florence always placed her family first and foremost over anything else she did. In addition to her devotion to them, she was active in Alpha Chi Omega, Eastern Star P.E.O., Girl Scouts, AFS, American Red Cross and served on the board of directors of First National Bank in Montevideo. As a long standing member of the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, she served on the Mission Committee, acted as church treasurer, taught Sunday school and was communion steward for 25 years. She, Bill and Pastor George Bell planted many of the trees around the church grounds, tending them and carrying buckets of water during several of the drought years. In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing the piano, watercolor painting, listening to classical music, spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens, and preserving the produce. Quiet times were spent with her hand work and her love of nature, which included many hours of bird watching, hiking and travels to Kenya.She was called from this life on Friday afternoon, August 14, 2009 while a patient at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. She was 86 years old.Cherishing her memory are her children: Barbara Graff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mary (& Joel) Lynne of Glenwood, Minnesota, William (& Kathleen) Prindle of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Carrie (& Paul) Gervais of Montevideo; and her grandsons: Joel Lynne II, Thomas Lynne, William (& Ashley) Prindle, John Prindle, Benjamin Prindle, Charles Gervais (& fiancé Mary Jo Walsh) and Christopher Gervais and her great granddaughter Elisabeth Florence Lynne. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband William Day Prindle, Jr. in January 2006, her daughter Florence Prindle Ronning in November 2004, her parents Joel and Lucille Jackson and her brother Frederick Jackson.
