Evelyn Marie Stenson was born September 6, 1922, the daughter of James and Minnie Kopasek, in Brooklyn Park. She grew up and attended school in Granite Falls, graduating in 1940.
She was united in marriage to Arden Stenson of Clarkfield in 1943, and spent 61 years together. They were blessed with five sons and raised their family on a farm in Lisbon Township north of Clarkfield. Together they traveled during the winter to most of the states in the U.S. and also Hawaii. They retired at their lake home in Alexandria in 1987, where they enjoyed the sunsets and fishing. She never missed a Twins, Lynx or Wolves game, loved playing cards with friends, scrabble, crocheting, afghans, baking cookies for her greats and gardening in earlier years. Her love was her family, although they were scattered in many states, she was fortunate to visit them quite often.
Evelyn passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at her residence in Alexandria. She was 91 years of age.
She is survived by her sons: Jerry of Falcon Heights; Thomas (Sandra) of Dalhart, Texas; Steven (Sharol) of Montevideo; Michael of Omaha, Nebraska and Mark (Jolene) of Alexandria; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2004, three brothers and a daughter-in-law. Blessed be her memory.
