Evelyn Margaret Grages was born on Tuesday, November 27, 1923, in Appleton, MN, the daughter of George and Margaret Loose. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Shible Lutheran Church, north of Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School. On May 1, 1942, Evelyn was united in marriage to Alfred Grages in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shible Township. She farmed with Alfred until 1963, when they moved to Montevideo and together, owned and operated the Mohawk Drive-in & Café until 1976. Alfred passed away in January of 2000. Evelyn loved to cook, do embroidering and garden. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida and was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. In the morning hours of Wednesday July 8, 2009, Evelyn was called from this life while a patient at the Chippewa County-Montevideo hospital. She was 85 years of age.She is survived by her daughters- Violet Heacox of Sarasota, FL, Darlene (& husband Manville) Estwick of Kerkhoven, MN, JoAnn Gilbertson of Spicer, MN and Bonnie (& husband Steve) Nilsen of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother- Dennis Loose of Willmar, MN and extended family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 sons-in-law- David Heacox, Arlo Raffelson & Gary Gilbertson. She was also preceded in death by a grandson- Seth Heacox.
