Eugene Olson, 64, of Montevideo, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at his residence. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday evening at Trinity Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Eugene Keith Olson was born March 13, 1959, the son of Keith and Helen (Binns) Olson in St. Peter, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Gene graduated from the Granite Falls High School with the Class of 1978.
Following high school Gene worked as a Security Officer in Des Moines, Iowa. He returned to Granite Falls and worked for Plews and Chandler Industries. He later worked as a Grain Inspector in Appleton and was a Grain Handler for Farmers Coop Elevator in Montevideo.
Gene was united in marriage with Lori Nahnsen on April 18, 1987, in Schleswig, Iowa. He enjoyed being outdoors spending time fishing, deer hunting, pheasant hunting, camping and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, spending time with friends and visiting new breweries and wineries. Gene was a Minnesota sports fan and loved watching the Twins, Wild and especially the Vikings.
Gene is survived by his wife Lori; mother Helen Nephew of Montevideo; siblings: Ray (Linda) DeVaughn of Clearwater, Florida, Terry (Randy) Hindt of Lakeville, Tracy Rice of Montevideo, Kelly Brendmoen of Montevideo, Shawn (Todd) Quick of Parkers Prairie and Terry Irons (Doug Heggestad) of Montevideo; mother-in-law Joan Nahnsen of Schleswig, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law Neal & Doris Nahnsen of Schleswig, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, and his fur babies Buddy & Murphy.
He was preceded in death by his father Keith Olson, brother-in-law Steve Brendmoen, stepfather Bob Nephew, stepsister Jodi Nephew, father-in-law Gordon Nahnsen and fur babies: Coco, Charlie, Tucker, Callie and Abby.
