Etta Dieken was born December 21, 1922 in George, Iowa the daughter of Evert and Antje Reiter. She passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She was baptized in George, Iowa and her family moved to a farm north of Clara City when she was an infant. Etta was confirmed at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City and graduated from Clara City High School. Following graduation, Etta attended Windom Teachers College in Montevideo and taught for a short time in Kerkhoven. On September 2, 1945 Etta was united in marriage to Walter Dieken at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. To this union three children were born. Etta was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday school teacher along with WELCA. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking, flower gardening, dancing and was in card club. She is survived by her children: Sherdith (Howard) Greenhagen of Minnetonka; Gloria (Ben) Williams of Fair Oaks, California; Duane (Laurie) Dieken of Clara City; grandchildren: Phillip (Stacey) Greenhagen, Charles Greenhagen, Daniel (Jennifer) Greenhagen, Megan (Steve) LeBrasseur, Alec (Magnolia) Williams, Evan (Celeste) Dieken, Jarred Dieken (Fiancé Zach Mattison) and Emily Dieken; great grandchildren; Clara, Lucy and Isaac Greenhagen, Nathan, Margaret and Henry Greenhagen and Sawyer Dieken; sister: Sylvia Hebrink of Clara City; sister-in-law: Barbara Reiter of Denver; brother-in-law: Marvin (Virginia) Dieken of Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Evert and Antje Reiter, Etta was preceded in death by husband Walter in 2011, her sisters and their husbands: Grace and Brunno DeBeer, Alice and Louis Boike and Gertie and Bennie Lalim; her brothers Henry and his wife Evelyn Reiter, and Evert Reiter and her brother-in-law Warren Hebrink.
