Ervin A. Tomes was born June 22, 1919, the son of John W. & Agnes Tomes, in Clara City. He was baptized on August 17, 1919, at St. Clara Catholic Church and was later confirmed there. He attended the Renville County School District #98. Ervin served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Ervin was united in marriage to Tena Grussing on June 19, 1947, in Clara City. Together they farmed in the Sacred Heart area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working. Ervin and Tena also enjoyed winter traveling and playing cards.Ervin passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Clara City Care Center. He was 92 years of age. He is survived by his wife Tena; three children: David (Mary) Tomes of Sacred Heart; Karen Tomes of Burnsville; Kenneth (Mary) Tomes of Stillwater; son-in-law Gary (Vivian) Imdieke of Dothan, Alabama; grandchildren: Michelle (Rosendo) Delgadillo; John Tomes; Katie (Pat) Nemec; Scott Tomes; Greg Tomes; Christina Tomes; Anna Tomes; Angela (Carl) Knudson; Elizabeth (Michael) Henry; Michael (Rachel) Imdieke and Teresa Imdieke; six great grandchildren: Mason; Olivia; Carter; Charlie; Luke and Gabriel; sister Irene Peterson of Sacred Heart and a brother Ernie of Lake Geneva, Florida; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Peggy Imdieke; siblings: Herbie, Florence, Mary Ann, Joe and Marty.
