Emelia Josephine Mossman was born September 11, 1909, the daughter of Mads Peder & Elsie Lauritsen on the family farm in Chippewa County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Saron Lutheran Church. Emelia moved to California in 1929 and worked for Howard Hughes in the aircraft industry. She was united in marriage to Ancel Tate and one child, Bonnie June, was born to this union. She later married Harry Mossman. Emelia and Harry loved the outdoors. They traveled throughout the United States with their camper, motorcycle and their small Chihuahua dogs. Emelia was a brave and adventurous woman with a great sense of humor. She was a free spirit who lived life to the fullest. Emelia moved back to Montevideo and entered Luther Haven in March of 2002, where she passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009. She was 100 years of age. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie June Tate, of Montevideo; step son Larry Mossman of California; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry; two sisters: Anina and Helga; and six brothers: Richard, Frederick, Louie, Paul, Victor and William Lauritsen.
