Elizabeth Norton

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Norton was born December 23, 1941 in Swift County, Minnesota the daughter of Sherman and Doris (Nelson) Hanson. She passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at her home in Lake Crystal.She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Watson Lutheran Church and grew up in the Watson area graduating from Montevideo High School. On December 24, 1957 Betty was united in marriage to Willard "Bill" Norton at Watson Lutheran Church. To this union six children were born. Betty cared for their home when the children were young. They lived in Minnesota and Arizona. Betty worked at E&M Industries in Montevideo, Carlson Crafts in Mankato and Phoenix Transformer in Phoenix. She and Bill retired to Lake Crystal.She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and was active in several bridge clubs over the years. Betty also enjoyed giraffes and was known for her tea pot collection. Betty is survived by her husband Bill Norton of Lake Crystal; children: Jeffery (Christine) Norton of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Billy (Sheryl) Norton of Scottsdale, Arizona; Debbie Melchert of Lake Crystal; Dori (Todd) Becker of Hanska; Nicki (Jeff Cluka) Johnson of St. Peter; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Gwen Klaus and Pauline Machie both of Surprise, Arizona.She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janine in 1968 and a sister Shirley in infancy.
