Eleanor Beninga

Eleanor Beninga was born March 22, 1927 in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota the daughter of Eli and Hattie (Bohn) Walter. She passed away Thursday July 30, 2009 at the Granite Falls Manor. She attained the age of 82 years. Eleanor grew up in the Boyd area and for a short time lived in Nebraska. She worked as a teacher and a nurse and was a homemaker taking care of the family as a loving mother and devoted wife. On March 29, 1948 she was united in marriage to H. Alfred Beninga. To this union three children were born. They lived and farmed near Marietta from 1948 to 1989 when Alfred passed away. In 1990 Eleanor moved to Granite Falls. Eleanor is survived by her children: Faye (Stephen) Annett of Revillo, South Dakota; Beth Beninga of Granite Falls, Minnesota; Joel (Diane) Beninga of Granite Falls, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Josh (Deenna Anspach) Beninga, Jordan (Scott) Rustin, and Andrew (Elizabeth) Annett; two great grandchildren: Owen and Gabrial Annett; special friend, Edmund Leppke of Clarkfield, Minnesota; sister-in-laws: Evelyn Walter, Dorothy Eaton, and Beatrice Vik; five nieces and four nephews. She lead a very fulfilling life and made may wonderful friends and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred, her parents and two brothers, and three nephews and a niece.
