Elaine Gullickson

Elaine was born January 20, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl Alfred & Emma Johanna Carlson. She graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis in 1946. She worked at various businesses in Minneapolis. Elaine married Gene Messer on March 15, 1946. They had three daughters: Carol, Linda & Susan. In addition to being a full time Mom, she worked at Rodgers Hydraulic in Granite Falls for several years. Gene passed away on September 4, 1988. She was united in marriage to Jerry Gullickson on August 29, 1992. He passed away on September 16, 1992. Elaine was active in her community serving on the Care and Community Board and the Riverview Apartments Board. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was a positive influence on all who knew and loved her.She is survived by her daughters: Carol (Bill) Dietz of Faribault; Linda (Larry) Paulson of Montevideo and Susan (Gary) Ockwig of Spicer; special friend and companion Howard Hultman of Granite Falls and his daughter Margot (Chuck) Shellenbarger of Montevideo; grandchildren: Mike (Cindy) Dietz, Marty Dietz, Wendy (Mike) Richards, Lisa (Rodney) Roberts, Brian Paulson, Amber (Jim) Hjelmstad, Nathan Ockwig and Jennifer (Bret) Pedersen; great grandchildren: Jade and Parker Dietz, Kayla Richards, Jacob and Matthew Roberts, Megan and Tyler Hjelmstad, Gabe and Adelyn Pedersen; step daughters: Susan (Robert) Gluth of New Ulm and Karen (Reynold) Hansen of Maynard; step grandchildren: Beth (Tim) Chadderdon, Jennifer (Troy) Kalis, Tim (Melissa) Hansen and Brian (Kate) Hansen; step great grandchildren: Tyler, Hannah and Emily Chadderdon, Logan and Paige Kalis, Ashley and Bradyn Hansen and Rylie and Jack Hansen; and several nieces and nephews.Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene Messer, husband Jerry Gullickson, brothers Stanley Carlson and Arnold Carlson.
