Edward Leonard Glatz was born January 10, 1942, in Tyler, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Pearl (Sheets) Glatz. He passed away Tuesday January 29, 2013 in Clarkfield, Minnesota as a resident of the Care Center. Edward grew up and attended school in Tyler before enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17. He completed basic training at Detroit Lakes, Michigan, and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and Davisville, Rhode Island on the USS Shadwell. Edward operated amphibian "mike" boats during the Cuban Missile Crisis and did a Mediterranean tour near Greece. He received his honorable discharge in February of 1963. On April 23, 1962 Edward was united in marriage to Lorraine Chatleain at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin. To this union six children were born. They lived in Luverne while Edward worked at IBP Meat Packing. Edward lived in Ellsworth and Russell before moving to Fulda in is retirement years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Spending time with his friends at Norm's in Fulda traveling around the country also gave him great joy. Edward wanted to spend this past summer at Dutch Charlie and it was many of the items on his ?bucket list? he was able to complete. Edward is survived by his children: Deb (Loren) Swenson of Granite Falls; Avis (Jody) Betz of Sioux Falls; Eddie (Pamela) Glatz of Knoxville, Tennessee; Pam (Andy) Iverson of Granite Falls; Michael (Jamie) Glatz of Arkansas; Jamie Glatz of Storden-Jeffers; sisters: Winnie (Gene) Hanson of North Hills, California; Opal Thompsen of Cottage Grove; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Pearl.
