Edna Moudry

February 1, 1923 — December 22, 2007

Edna Charlotte Moudry was born on a farm near Montevideo, Minnesota on February 1, 1923 to Eddie Nicodemus and Christine Kaupang. She was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and confirmed her Lutheran faith at the same altar. When she was six years old, the family moved into Montevideo. She received her formal education in Montevideo High School and graduated with her class. On October 18, 1942, Edna married John Raymond Moudry in Granite Falls, Minnesota and this union was blessed with two children. For fifty years, the couple was inseparable until Jack's death in 1995. They lived and worked together and were never far apart. In addition to raising her family, Edna waitressed at Belle's Grill and the Hunt Hotel. She and Jack also owned and operated the Tydol Café in downtown Montevideo and then Jack's Recreation. In 1968, the couple moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota and then to Sartell where they lived until 1994 at which time they moved to St. Cloud. When Jack passed away in 1995, she moved back to Montevideo. Edna loved to read, tend her flower and vegetable gardens, bake and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She listened with her heart as much as she did with her ear; you would always find her singing or dancing; and her coffee pot was always on! Due to failing health, Edna moved to Homefront where she passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 19th. She was 84 years old. Although her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, we know that ?once again, Mom is dancing with our Dad?. Cherishing her memory are her children: Barbara (Mike) Kjos of Hopkins, Minnesota and Georgetown, Texas and John (Carole) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; her sister Vivian Phelps of Montevideo; special niece Kathy Gordon of Golden Valley, Minnesota as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack in 1995, her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.
