Edna Flygare

Edna Virginia Flygare was born on May 11, 1927, in Lake Lillian, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Eva Lund. She was baptized at Lake Lillian Baptist Church and graduated from Atwater High School in 1944. On October 5, 1946, Edna was united in marriage to Donaven Flygare at Willmar Baptist Church in Willmar.For several years, Edna farmed with Donaven near Diamond Lake in the Atwater/Kandiyohi, area. They eventually moved to Clara City where Edna worked at Ed's Market, A & P, Big "V" Store and at Jack & Jill Grocery. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Clara City. Gardening, sewing, attending card clubs, coffee parties and cooking and baking for her family were among her favorite things to do. She was known for her excellent pickles, homemade cake and above all, her loving generosity. She was also the ?Family Historian?, keeping track of family happenings, birthdays, places of residence, etc.Edna was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She was called from this life in the early morning hours of Monday September 20, 2010, while a resident of the Clara City Care Center. She was 83 years of age.Surviving Edna are her husband Donaven, of Clara City; her son Steven Wayne Flygare of Maynard; a daughter-in-law Lynn VanAllen Flygare of Excelsior; a grandson Todd (& Sarah) Flygare of Vadnais Heights, a step sister Shirley Bjork of Texas, nieces Kitty Lopez and Sandy Chang both of California, nephews Jim Johnson of Spokane, WA; Russell Hansen of LaPorte, MN; and Douglas Hansen of Willmar.She was preceded in death by her parents; her son David; two sisters Novella Johnson and Eileen Hansen.
