Ed Godfrey was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 21, 1942 to Leonard and Azalia Godfrey, the youngest of 11 children. He grew up in Sioux City and graduated from East High School with the class of 1961. Ed served in the army reserves for 7 years before marrying his wife Connie in 1964. To this union, four children were born: Tim, Ann, Craig, and Amy. He and Connie moved to Montevideo in 1975 where he began his career as a cattle buyer in southwestern Minnesota, retiring after 40 years. Ed was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends, especially the time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Connie of Montevideo; children: Tim (Cindy) Godfrey of Montevideo, Ann Berglind of Marshall, Craig Godfrey of Montevideo and Amy (Mark) Reidinger of Montevideo; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Amick, Judy (Rick) Utesch; brothers: Dale (Janet) Godfrey, Dwight (Mary Lou) Godfrey, Delano (Helen)Sutton, Clark Godfrey, Max (Sharon) Godfrey, Lanny (Karon) Godfrey; sister-in-law Kay Godfrey. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert (Audrey) Godfrey and Jim Godfrey; brother-in-law: Ed Amick, and sister-in-law: Mary Godfrey.
