Earl Norbert Schultz was born on March 28, 1931, in Stearns County near Paynesville, MN, the son of Gustaf and Ester (Knebel) Schultz. He was baptized at Zion Evangelical Church and attended country school in District 43, near Paynesville.
On July 7, 1956, Earl was united in marriage to Lavonne A. Peterson at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo, of which he was a faithful member. Earl farmed all of his life southeast of Montevideo, retiring in 1993. Following his retirement, he continued in assisting his son Ron and local neighbors with their farming operations. He also worked part time for Steve’s Equipment Company.
He enjoyed woodworking, making crafts, playing buck with his friends, visiting over a cup of coffee and spending time with his family. Earl also gave of his time serving on the Salem Lutheran Church Council and on the Strombeck Cemetery Board.
Earl is survived by his children- Ron (& Pam) Schultz of Montevideo, Larry Schultz of Montevideo, Karen (& Don) Van Klompenburg of Fosston, Diane (& Tom) Ellingboe of Blaine, and Peggy (& Bryan) Mooney of Granite Falls; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sister Irene Kruger of Paynesville; two sisters-in-law Marlene Kimpling & Kathy (& Tom) Leindecker both of Montevideo; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lavonne (in 2009); his brother Ervin Schultz; sister-in-law Ruth Schultz; brothers-in-law Galen Kimpling and Daniel Kruger and his niece Brenda Leindecker.
