Dustin Ryan Rhoda, was born on June 26, 1986 in Montevideo, MN. He was baptized on June 26, 1986 and confirmed in the Christian faith on March 27, 2005. He attended Willmar Public School, MACCRAY Public School, St. Paul Public School and public schools in Brooklyn Park, Minnetonka, Minneapolis, Hopkins and Montevideo. For a time, Dustin was employed by Heartland Industries in Montevideo.Dustin loved watching Animal Planet, America's Funniest Videos, and the Weather Channel. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, Twins, NAASCAR, the Timberwolves and the Minnesota Wild. He liked playing games on his computer, playing Monopoly with his housemates and occasionally, playing tricks on staff, housemates and family members. Dustin liked going for walks, watching wildlife, shopping trips, sitting outdoors in the sun, having staff read to him and attending his sisters? school activities. He also loved visiting and spending time with his family and bowling.Due to his special physical needs, Dustin resided in numerous locations, including Willmar, a farm near Maynard, MN, a patient at Gillette Children's Hospital and group homes in Brooklyn Park, Minnetonka, a patient at Minneapolis Children's Hospital and finally, Morningview Assisted Living in Montevideo. On Tuesday June 7, 2001, while in the loving presence of family, Dustin was called from this life at Morningview. He was 26 years of age. Survivors include his mother Barbara Jo (Koenen) Rhoda (& special friend Jason Hamre) of Montevideo, MN; sisters Samantha Jo Koenen (& special friend Ryan Godfrey) of Montevideo, MN and Dana Renae Rhoda (& special friend Joshua Reiman) of Raymond, MN; his father Kevin John Rhoda of Brainerd, MN; step-mother Janell Rhoda of Brainerd, MN; half-brother Matthew Rhoda of Brainerd, MN; half-sister Faith Rhoda of Brainerd, MN; grandmothers Betty Lou (Miller) Koenen of Willmar, MN and Deanna (Larson) Rhoda of Raymond, MN; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.He was preceded in death by his grandfathers- Stanley Koenen & John Rhoda; an uncle Scott Rhoda and an aunt Cindy Rhoda.
