Duane Mahoney

Duane Mahoney was born October 5, 1932, the son of Francis & Mary Mahoney in Swift County, Fairfield Township. He attended country school in Swift County. Duane was united in marriage to LaDonna Pieske and to this union five children were born. Duane farmed in Swift County, on the family century farm, his entire life until retiring. He moved to Milbank, South Dakota in 2005, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and gardening. Duane was a member of the local trapshooting club and a lifetime member of the NRA. He was proud of his Irish heritage. Duane enjoyed spending time with his dog Buddy. Duane passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 78 years of age. He is survived by his five children: Ronald (Deb) Mahoney of Oakes, North Dakota; Raymond (Darlene) Mahoney of Shoreview; Jan (Lonnie) Anderson of Granite Falls; Brian (Stephanie) Mahoney of Waconia and Sheila (Tim) Goettle of Campbell; eight grandchildren: Jessica Davies; Brett Mahoney, Blaine Weber, Lyndsey Weber, Breanna Mahoney, Benjamin Mahoney, Faith Goettle and Luke Goettle; a sister Mary Lou (Pete) Woodard of Frazee; and special friend Florence Klein of Willmar; and several extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Donald.
