Dorothy Alice McLagan was born on August 29, 1919 in rural Bellingham, Minnesota, daughter of Frank and Mary Witte. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Evangelical Brethren Church in Bellingham, Minnesota. Dorothy grew up in the Bellingham area attending country school through the sixth grade and graduated from Bellingham High School with the class of 1936. On September 28, 1939, Dorothy was united in marriage to Clayton L. McLagan at her home. Their union was blessed with three children. Dorothy was a devoted wife and loving mother, taking care of the home and raising the children on the family farm near Bellingham before they moved to the Wood Lake area in the mid 1950?s. She was an active member of the Wood Lake United Methodist Church, and was known for making popcorn balls and Christmas candy. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and crossword puzzles; and in her free time, she liked to play bingo, cards and shake dice with her grandchildren. In November 2005, she moved to the Manor in Granite Falls where she resided until the time of her death. Dorothy is survived by her daughters: Judith (Floyd) Kumerow of Lamberton, Carol (Dick) Timm of Wood Lake; son: Charles (Cathy) McLagan of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clayton McLagan in 1982, granddaughter Carrie McLagan; great grandson Benjamin Winter; brothers: Ervin and Ben Witte; and sister Elnora Thomas.
