Dorothy Jaenisch, age 83, of Clara City passed away Monday, June 28, 2021 at CCM Health in Montevideo. A Private Family Burial was held at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Clara City.
Dorothy Alice Jaenisch was born on January 7, 1938 in Montevideo, the daughter of Clarence and Marjorie (Mantor) Barnard. She was baptized at Montevideo Methodist and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran of Clara City. Dorothy graduated from the Clara City High School in 1956.
On October 3, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to Roger Jaenisch at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. They made their home on a farm near Clara City. Dorothy was a dedicated farmwife; doing various things to keep life running smoothly, from delivering food to the field to caring for her children. In the early years, Dorothy worked for the railroad in Minneapolis before getting married and raising her family. After the children were grown, she began working at the JC Penney Catalog Department in Willmar.
Dorothy’s first priority was being a mom. When her grandchildren came along, her attention grew to include them. She enjoyed her pets, always having a cat around and occasionally snuck it into the house. Dorothy liked playing cards, with Solitaire being a favorite. She did not shy away from technology, she navigated her iPad games like a pro.
Dorothy passed away at CCM Health on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 21 days. Dorothy was a resident of Home Front First Assisted Living in Montevideo since 2019.
She is survived by her daughter, Deb (John) Hosek of Clara City; son, Dale (Carol) Jaenisch of Clara City; grandchildren, Jen (Josh) Heiling of Clara City, Jason Hosek (Kelly) of Montevideo, Bryan (Melissa) Jaenisch of Clara City, Amber (Eric) Johnson of Clara City; great grandchildren, Brady, Korri, Zoey, Jase, Jamie, Logan, Peyton, Henley, Aven; sister-in-law, Carol Hjerpe-Klug; as well as other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Marjorie Barnard; husband, Roger Jaenisch in 1999; brothers, Clarence Jr and Frank; sister, Betty.
