Dorothy Andresen, age 100, passed away Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City, Minnesota. Dorothy was born February 20, 1919, the daughter of Ray and Jurena (Bruns) Sietsema, in Renville County. She attended country school near Sacred Heart. Dorothy was the oldest daughter and was relied upon to take care of her younger siblings. She also worked outside of the home and when she was 18 moved to Clara City to help assist a family.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Martin Andresen on April 16, 1941, at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. They made their home on a farm for many years. The couple later moved to Clara City and were blessed with five children, Delores, Roger, Darlene, Monica and Gloria. They shared over 47 years of marriage together.
Dorothy like to share that her first real job was working for Governor Ramsey in St. Paul as a maid. After marrying Martin, her focus was on raising her family. She was a member of the Bethany Reformed Church and served with the Ladies Aid and was part of the Prison Ministry spreading her deep faith. Dorothy also ministered to others through her work with hospice and later her role changed to volunteering for hospice for a total of 10 years.
Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, embroidering, counted cross stitch, crocheting with her specialties being crocheted hangers and little baby hats. She deeply loved her family and will be remembered for her kind and caring heart and who was always there to help anyone in need.
Dorothy is survived by children, Delores Ostroviak of Lester Prairie, Roger (Jane) Andresen of Montevideo, Darlene Andresen of Farmington, Monica (Tim) Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD, Gloria Andresen of Burnsville; grandchildren, Phyllis Moorman, Stephanie (Jason) Noble, Mike (Tifany) Andresen, Dawn (TJ) Schmitt, Todd (Amy) Wick, Jennifer (Chad) Weidenbacher, Angela (Chad) Schoffelman, Jeremy Andresen; great grandchildren, Dakota, Korby, Destiny, Alexis, Xavier, Griffen, Ethan, Connor, Christopher, Chloe, Candace, Madelyn, Alana, Claire, Julia, Alex, Tanner; siblings, Maddie Enger of Phoenix, AZ, Joan Hegge of Granite Falls, Jurena Seehusen of Olivia, John (Sharon) Sietsema of Sacred Heart, Tillie Kieffer-Smith of Phoenix, AZ; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Jurena Sietsema; husband, Martin; siblings, Donald Sietsema, Jeanette Seehusen, Vernon Sietsema, Verbena Werner, infant brother.
