Doris Schei

April 3, 1933 — December 10, 2011

Doris Lena Schei was born April 3, 1933 in Clara City, the daughter of Herbert and Lena Pieper. She passed away Saturday December 10, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Doris was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. She grew up and attended school in Clara City graduating from Clara City High School with the Class of 1951. Doris continued her education in nurses training at Union Hospital in New Ulm, Minnesota obtaining her LPN. On February 20, 1954 Doris was united in marriage to James Schei at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. To this union four daughters were born. Doris and James moved to Montevideo and began their family. She worked at Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital, was a homemaker raising the girls and caring for the house and an avid Twins Baseball fan. While in Montevideo she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the homemaker club, quilting, bible study, and taught Sunday school. Doris was also active with the V.F.W. ladies auxiliary. Doris and James lived in Lake Benton, Minnesota, for 15 years before retiring to Clara City in 2000. They were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church where Doris was active in quilting and the choir. She enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, going camping, spending winters in McAllen, Texas, and spending time with her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren. Doris is survived by her husband, James Schei of Clara City; daughters: Rebecca (Roger) Newman of Hector; Sally (Rod) Olson of Glenwood; Dianne (Steve) Anderson of Montevideo; Sara (Tim) Sabe of Clara City; grandchildren: Eric (Jessi) Newman, Lindsey (Mike) Buboltz, Dana (Joel) Asche, Abby (Cory) Rodelius, Jordan (Jennifer) Anderson, Blake (Katie) Anderson, Paige Sabe, Cole Sabe, Carter Sabe; great grandchildren: Tate, Avery, Beckett, William, Hudson, Noah, Bennett, Addison, Alivia, Brendan, Amelia; siblings: Harlan (Alberta) Pieper of Clara City; Elaine Johnson of Clarkfield; Lorraine (Milo) Peterson of Elgin. She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert and Lena, brothers: Gerald Pieper and Laverne in infancy; and son-in-law: Richard Schlenner.
