Doris Nash, 97, of Montevideo, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Luther Haven Nursing Home. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Montevideo Community Center.
Doris Nash was born November 19, 1922, the daughter of Lief & Hannah (Danielson) Stratmoen in Riverside Township, Lac qui Parle County. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Doris graduated from the Montevideo High School with the Class of 1940.
On September 14, 1940, Doris was united in marriage to Milo “Bud” Nash. They farmed in the Dawson – Madison area for many years, eventually moving to Rosewood Township in rural Montevideo in 1953. Doris worked outside the home for JC Penney and Stampson Café. She was very church oriented, volunteering and active with the Ladies Aide. She was also involved with the Hospital Auxiliary, Sons of Norway and the VFW Auxiliary.
In her spare time Doris was very artistic and loved to paint. She shared her painting with family and friends.
Doris passed away at Luther Haven Nursing Home on Friday, March 27, 2020. She was 97 years of age.
She is survived by her children: Kenny (Synnove) Nash of Montevideo, Karin (David) Olson of Milan and Rebecca (Nick) Kostiuk of Grand Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, daughter Andrea Sandven; son-in-law David Sandven; two grandsons: Jon & Aaron, and five brothers: Lloyd, Merlin, Ralph, Paul and Eugene.
