Doris Grussing, 92, of Clara City, died Sunday, December 22nd at the Carris Health Care Center in Willmar.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27th at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Doris Grussing was born August 22, 1927, in rural Clara City, Minnesota, Harry & Dorothy (Beckman) Gerdes. She was baptized and later confirmed in her faith at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Doris grew up on the family farm and attended country school.
Doris enjoyed going to dances on Friday and Saturday nights with her sisters. She worked at the turkey plant for a number of years.
On February 25th, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Daniel Grussing at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. The couple made their home, on a farm in rural Maynard and were blessed with three children, Randall, Duane, and Linnae.
Doris was a devoted wife and enjoyed farming with her husband and family. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was involved with her circle.
Family was the most important thing to Doris. Doris and Daniel took many Sunday drives around the country. She loved the annual family picnic on Games Lake and Thanksgiving was another highlight, not only for the great food and pies, but also because her family gathered together. She showed her love through food and enjoyed gardening and canning. She also cherished the time when family gathered to play cards and marbles together. Doris also enjoyed sewing and making quilts for her family.
Doris is survived by her sons, Randall (Traci) Grussing of Maynard; Duane (Jodi) Grussing of Montevideo; daughter, Linnae (Mark) Rothmeier of Clara City; grandchildren, Robb (Caitlin) Grussing of Roseville, Mitch (Brittany) Grussing of Clara City, Jordan (Stephanie) Baldwin of Dawson, Trisha (Zach) Suchanek of Montevideo, Brianna (Anthony) Carruth of Renville, Nicole (Austin) Hansen of Cottonwood, Amber Rothmeier of Clara City, Brittany (Ben) Bergo of Granite Falls, Tyler Rothmeier of Clara City; great grandchildren, Penelope, Leo, Helen, Jackson, Ana, Olivia, Miles and Paisley; sister, Margaret Ruud of Lake Lillian; in-laws: Tena Tomes of Clara City, Edna Kleene of Clara City, Henrietta Hagemeyer of Clara City, Gordon (Geneva) Grussing of Clara City, Eunice (Vernon) Onnen of Willmar, as wells as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Gerdes; husband, Daniel; father and mother-in-law, Eilert and Antina Grussing; sister, Alice (Bernard) Forcier; sisters-in-law: Gertrude (Louis) Boike and Lavonne Grussing; brothers-in-law: Ervin Tomes, Earl Kleene, Leonard Hagemeyer and Donald “Pat” Ruud.
Memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Rice Hospice.
