Donald James Erickson was born on March 8, 1933, in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Edward & Cora Erickson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and graduated from Wood Lake Public School.
Donald proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Donald was united in marriage to Bonnie Spies on June 16, 1957, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Don farmed many years in Minnesota Falls Township. He retired from farming in 1993. He enjoyed his many hobbies of hunting, fishing, woodworking, carving and painting decoys, reading and his family. He loved time spent at their summer cottage on East Battle Lake for 21 years.
Donald passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the Clarkfield Care Center. He was 82 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie and daughters: Barbara (Rick) Calley of Red Wing and Kathryn (Jamie) Kulesa of Clovis, New Mexico; grandchildren: Lindsay (Stuart) Larson of Rochester and Alex Calley of Red Wing; his farming partner Dwayne (Connie) Erickson and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Cora Erickson; brothers: Vernon & Gordon and their wives Theresa & Gretchen; in-laws: Robert & Elizabeth Spies and Leroy Lies.
