Don Ordell Sebring was born August 7, 1927 in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the son of Don Didymus and Mary Alice (Bijold) Sebring. He passed away September 6, 2014 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in the loving presence of his family.
Don was baptized and confirmed at United Church of Christ in Granite Falls. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1946. In 1951 he married Thaisia Marie Farrell at the St. James Catholic Church, Nausau, Minnesota.
Don served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict being stationed in San Francisco, California and Baltimore, Maryland (1951-1953). Don continued his training and was proud of his specialized service in the Counter Intelligence Core as an investigator, advancing to the rank of corporal.
Don and Thaisia raised six children at their home in rural Granite Falls. Don was a progressive dairy farmer, retailer, and owner of Sebring Dairy. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, nature and wildlife. He also enjoyed traveling on dairy tours to New Zealand, Australia, France, Germany and Canada. He especially enjoyed boating and fishing in the Everglades of Florida. Don was very community minded, serving on school, technical college and church boards, and on various community leadership positions. Don never met a stranger, loved his neighbors, and seemed to bring out the best in people.
On June 13, 1998, he married Viola J. Lavoie. Don was heard to say he was blessed to have two loving marriages in his life. Viola and Don made their home in Granite Falls, enjoying time with children and grandchildren, gardening, bird-watching and traveling.
