Wallace Donald Hendrickson was born May 18, 1933 in Wang Township, Minnesota. Don was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Wang Lutheran Church. He grew up and attended school in the Granite Falls area graduating with the class of 1952.He served his country in the U.S. Army receiving his honorable discharge in 1955. Don came home and worked for Tri County Co-op Oil Company. In 1956 he started a career that would last for over 30 years with the Granite Falls Public Schools. On March 28, 1970 Don was united in marriage to Jeanette Tofte at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Appleton, Minnesota. They made their home in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Upon retirement from the school in 1990 he continued to work as a maintenance person for DeToy's restaurant and the Super 8 Motel. Don collected and restored antique tractors, and was a member of the Minnesota Valley Antique and Power Machinery Association. He was an active member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church and was a member of the Granite Falls Lions Club. He received a Distinguished Service Award and the Melvin Jones Award for outstanding contributions to his community from the Lions Club, and in 1989 was selected employee of the year by the Granite Falls Chamber of Commerce.Don is survived by his wife Jeanette; sisters: Patricia (Dale) Bakker, Marilyn (Russell) Tepfer; brother: James (Kathleen) Hendrickson and several nieces and nephews.
