Don Ast

Donald Scott Ast was born May 18, 1965 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at Maynard Lutheran Church. He grew up in the Maynard area and graduated from Maynard High School where he participated in wrestling, qualifying for the state tournament his senior year. Don continued his education at Ridgewater College graduating with a degree in auto body repair and later receiving a certificate in insurance adjusting. He worked as a auto body technician and painter in the Twin Cities area and later Montevideo. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, mountain biking and following the Minnesota Twins. He is survived by his parents: Merlyn and Jackie Ast of Maynard; sisters: Robin (Keith) Beito of Granite Falls; Mary Beth (Joseph) Gagner of Ham Lake; Mickey (Kevin) Gerdes of Mahtomedi; Melanie (Chad) Docken of Granite Falls; niece and nephews and numerous other relatives. Don was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Myrtle Ast and Jake and Lillian Vos.
