Dennis Lee Arends was born on November 27, 1942, in Montevideo, MN, the son of Arendt and Ruth Arends. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and graduated from Montevideo High School. Dennis served in the Army National Guard for four years and in the US Army Reserve for four years. As a young man, Dennis was employed by Whitman Repair and Mooney's Road Construction. His most recent employment was with Ruether Brothers in Montevideo as a truck mechanic. Dennis was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Montevideo American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and helping his brother David on the farm. He was a good neighbor, always ready to lend a hand. Dennis was called from this life on Thursday March 26, 2009, at his residence. He was 66 years of age. Surviving family include his children- Daniella (& Matthew) Schroeder of Montevideo, MN, Randy (& Jodi) Arends of Madison, MN and Scott Arends (& fiancé? Mickie Miller) of Montevideo, MN; 6 grandchildren- Rick (& Melissa) Schroeder, Lori Schroeder, Dean Arends, Julie Arends, Daytona Arends and Abigail Arends; 1 great grandson- Camden Schroeder; 2 brothers- David (& Lynette) Arends of Montevideo, MN and Gregory Arends also of Montevideo, MN; four sisters- Carol (& Douglas) Paulson of Gassville, AR, Barbara (& Eugene) Holmgren of Morris, MN, Sandy (& Bill) Maxwell of Minneapolis, MN and Kathy (& Alan) Isaacs of Montevideo, MN; a special friend- Beverly Home of Montevideo and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gloria, in 2005.
