Delores Ruth Swenson was born on December 7, 1927 in Montevideo as one of seven children to Louis and Martha Smith. Baptized on December 25, 1927 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo by the Reverend O. C. Wolff, she was confirmed at St. John’s by Reverend Wolff on April 6, 1941. Delores grew up in rural Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School. On June 22, 1947, Delores was united in marriage to Everett ‘Stub’ Swenson at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with a son. For several years, she worked at Woolworth’s before continuing her career at First National Bank. She retired from the bank after twenty six years of dedicated service.Delores enjoyed camping, crochet, traveling and was well known in the Montevideo community for her volunteer work.In addition to her son Roger and his partner Sandi McKinney, Delores is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband ‘Stub’ and her siblings: Erma Weckwerth, Evelyn Smith in infancy, Alvin ‘Bud’ Smith, Vernon Smith, Elmer Smith, and William ‘Bill’ Smith.
