Delores Holien

November 4, 1923 — May 11, 2012

Delores Maxine Holien was born November 4, 1923 to Selmer and Hannah Jordet on the Jordet farm, Ericson Township, Renville Co., Sacred Heart, MN. She attended rural District 128 & Sacred Heart High School. After attending Montevideo Normal (teacher's training) school she taught in Districts 35 & 98 from 1941-1944. Delores married Bert Holien on June 17, 1944 at the First English Lutheran parsonage in Montevideo by Rev. I. O. Melom. Marvin & Florence Bruns of Minneota were their attendants. This union was blessed with three daughters, Margaret and twins Barbara and Beverly. Delores worked at Maynard Public School as their secretary/bookkeeper from 1966-1979. Her strength of faith was apparent to all who knew her. She was active in her church and community. In her younger years she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, singing in the church choir, leading the Women's group, photography, sewing, quilting and counted cross stitch. In her later years she enjoyed reading, word puzzles and community volunteering. She considered her children and grandchildren a gift and treasured every moment with them. She is survived by her daughters Margaret Holien, Plymouth; Barbara (David) Hagen, Granite Falls, MN Beverly (Lyle) Gaines, Remer, MN; her grandchildren: Christopher (Susan) Gaines, Eric (Christie) Hagen, Andrea Mohs, Jeremy (Brandi) Hagen and Great-Grandchildren Matthew and Elizabeth Gaines, Braelin Hagen, Beck and Evan Hagen, sister Iverne (Bert) Enestvedt and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Bert (2002), her siblings & spouses, Mildred (Allen) Elliot, Stanley (Ruby) (June)Jordet, David (Helen) Jordet, and an infant brother.
