Delores Ann Hagemeyer passed away on Tuesday, November 10 after a 3 ½ year fight against cancer. She was born on September 2nd, 1929, near Clara City, MN to Brown and Amanda (Ennenga) Knoop. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 14th at Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 to 7pm on Friday the 13th.
She grew up loving the outdoors, working on the farm, enjoyed fishing and outings with her father. She was baptized and professed her faith at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. She graduated from Clara City High School in 1947 and then attended Hamline University. In her younger years, Delores worked at the North End, the bowling alley, and the local cafe. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Variety Supply Company and then as a clerk at the Big V Stores.
On March 13, 1954, Delores was married to Clifton Hagemeyer at the Bethany Reformed Church in Clara City. To this union, five children were born. At the time of their marriage, Clifton had returned from his tour of duty in Korea and they were then stationed at the Army Security Station in Vint Hill Farms, Virginia. His tour was complete in December of 1954 and they returned to MN.
Delores was an active member of the Bethany Reformed Church as her faith was very important to her. She was very involved with the church circles and served as a Bible Study leader for years. Delores also enjoyed the rigorous training of the Bethel Series and loved sharing it with others. Vacation Bible School was another one her passions. Music was very important to her as well. She used her lovely alto voice in many small groups, in the church choir and just singing around the house.
Clif and Delores were active in Pairs and Spares at Bethany as well and thoroughly enjoyed all of the thirteen mission trips they were able to partake in with this group of friends.
Delores loved to host parties for family. Christmas was one of her favorites as she turned her house into a Christmas wonderland.
She loved to go to auctions---all of the pieces in her house had a story. Delores was a collector and a saver. Some of her other hobbies included crocheting, square dancing, and sketching floor plans.
Delores had a true love for nature--rocks, shells, trees, birds, plants. As a family they went on many camping trips in MN and created many lasting memories. Eventually they fell in love with a beautiful wooded lot with an island near Park Rapids and built their own cabin on the lake. This was a true source of peace and joy and she loved spending time up there with her
children and eventually her grandchildren. Clif and Delores also enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their retirement years.
Family was very important to Delores. She was always concerned about her children and grandchildren and was their number one cheerleader.
She is survived by her husband, children, Jim (JoAnn) of Pennock, Lee (Carin) of Clara City, David (Joanne), Severna Park, MD, Julie, (Don) Boonstra, Raymond, Mark (Kris), Duluth, MN, 16 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her sister, Beulah Abner, sister-in-laws Joan Hagemeyer and Carol Hagemeyer.
