Dee Wieking

April 12, 1939 — November 21, 2011

Duaine Maxine "Dee" Wieking was born on April 12, 1939, in Willmar, the daughter of Vernon and Marvel Mattson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Tripolis Lutheran Church near Kandiyohi and attended country school. She graduated from Willmar High School and she made her home in Maynard for many years.Dee enjoyed music and was the organist/accompanist at Maynard Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her special friend Ralph and especially her grandchildren. Dee loved to maintain her lawn, grow flowers, and lately, liked to watch Judge Judy on TV. She was a good natured woman who was always there for her children and was not hesitant to give them her straightforward, honest opinions and advice.Dee was also very independent. She never wanted to be a burden, even in her latter days. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all of those whose life she touched through her music and deeds.In the afternoon hours of Monday, November 21, 2011, Dee was called peacefully from this life while in the loving presence of her family. She was 72 years of age. Surviving family include her children- Cindy Mckeown of Burnsville, Kristi Mickels of Eagan, Michael Wieking of Maynard,Jeff (& Sharin) of Farmington and Rodney (& Cheryl) Wieking of Dawson; a brother Virgil Mattson of Champlain; a sister Marlene (& Rich) Braun of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law Mark McKeown and a dear special friend Ralph Bristle.
