Dean Robert Guggemos, 84, of Montevideo, Minnesota, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, at Luther Haven Nursing Home with his wife, Jane, at his side. He was born in Winsted, Minnesota, on October 25, 1933, to Arnold and Rosella (Steiner) Guggemos.
Dean graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Winsted, Minnesota, in 1951. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 to 1956. After returning home, he attended and graduated from Dunwoody College of Technology.
Dean was joined in holy matrimony with Jane (Lyman) Guggemos on June 1, 1957, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children.
Dean was a member of the Montevideo American Legion Post #59 for 44 years. He enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. Dean was an avid gardener and loved to cook for his family and friends; his “Dean’s Beans” were a favorite at all family functions.
Dean is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane Guggemos and children, Julia Bourne (James) of Melrose, MN; David Guggemos (Ashley) of Chanhassen, MN; Karen Black (Joe) of Minnetonka, MN and Tracy Plinske (Darrin) of Brainerd, MN. Dean had seven grandchildren, Nicholas Bourne, Erin Bourne Northrup (Terry), Benjamin Plinske, Simon Black, Daniel Black, Greta Guggemos and Rachel Guggemos. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Kasper, Mary Stifter and Karen Sawatzke.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Rosella Guggemos; brother, Stanley (Bud) Guggemos and sister, Charleen Stotko.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Montevideo Veteran’s Home Fund, in care of the Montevideo American Legion Post #59.
