Darwin Lee Mortenson was born January 17, 1945, the son of Howard & Ardis Mortenson, in Madison, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and graduated from the Madison High School in 1963.
Darwin served his country in the Minnesota Army National Guard. He was united in marriage to Audrey Johnson on September 17, 1966, in Madison. Darwin was employed as a dairyman, boiler operator, carpenter and horse trader. In his later years he spent his time buying and selling horses, fishing and hunting. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Darwin passed away at his residence on May, 20, 2014. He was 69 years of age.
He is survived by his three sons: Stacy (Tammy) Mortenson of Clarkfield; Scott (Katie) Mortenson of Granite Falls and Jeff (Jill) Mortenson of Montevideo; grandchildren: Justin, Meghan, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Shelby, Bailey, Kelle, Chase, Colton and Kaden; niece DeeDee (Todd) Erp of Madison and their two children Tyler and Allison; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his three boys Audrey Mortenson, brother Ron Mortenson, and great niece Abigail Erp.
