Darrell Arden Streed was born to Ernest and Arlene Streed on Friday, August 5, 1955 at the Montevideo Hospital. After a short illness Darrell passed away on May 20, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 59 years old.
He was baptized on September 4, 1955 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan on June 14, 1970. He graduated from Milan High School on May 31, 1973.
After high school, he worked at various places including Jack & Jill Grocery Store in Milan, Goldfines in Willmar, U.S. Cylinder in Milan, Strand Fertilizer in Milan and Regal Homes in Montevideo.
On October 29, 1977 Darrell was united in marriage to Naomi Thompson at Big Bend Lutheran Church. To this union, two sons were born, Jeremy and Jesse.
Darrell and Naomi made their home and raised their family in Milan. During these years, he worked for Duininck Brothers Construction for 17 years and currently has been working for the Chippewa County Highway Department since 1991.
Darrell was a member of the Milan Volunteer Fire Department, retiring in 2002. He served as a church deacon and taught Sunday school at Kviteseid Lutheran Church and was a member of the Appleton Golf Course Board.
He enjoyed spending time at Pelican Lake fishing, grilling and using his electric smoker. Darrell took pride in his cooking, always looking for a new recipe to try. In the past, he liked to golf and had accomplished a hole in one. He was a Minnesota Twins, and Vikings fan. His greatest joy of all was loving and being around his family, especially his grandchildren, Caden and Brielle.
Darrell is survived by his wife Naomi of Milan; sons: Jeremy (Amy) Streed and Jesse Streed of Alexandria; grandchildren Caden Williams and Brielle Streed of Alexandria; father Ernest Streed; sister Emily Rodeberg; brothers Mike Streed, Dale (Janet) Streed, Kevin (Lori) Streed, Doug (Ann) Streed, and Tim Streed; sister-in-law Sue Streed; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wesley and Dorraine Thompson; sister-in-law Carmen (Steve) Haugen, brother-in-law Jamey (Jill) Thompson ; aunts Hazel Miller and Beatrice Olson, uncles Ray (Fern) Streed and Ralph Haugen, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Arlene; brother Gregory; sister-in-law Mary Jane Streed; brother-in-law Lee Rodeberg; step great niece, Amelia Hughes and several aunts and uncles.
