Darrel Syring

Darrel Frank Syring was born March 16, 1931 in Granite Falls, Minnesota the son of Frank and Clara (Johnson) Syring. He passed away December 21, 2015 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota at the age of 84 years old.
He grew up in the Hazel Run area, attended Granite Falls High School graduating with the class of 1949. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War receiving his honorable discharge in 1954.
On September 1, 1957 Darrel was united in marriage to Nancy Eldred in Granite Falls. To this union 4 children were born. The family made their home in Hazel Run Township where Darrel milked dairy cows for over 30 years.
Darrel was a faithful member of Hazel Run Lutheran Church serving on boards and church council. He was a member of the Hazel Run American Legion for 60 years and sat on the Hazel Run Town Board for over 30 years. Darrel was a devoted grandfather and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and attending their many school activities and sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Syring of Granite Falls; children: John (Lorie) Syring of Montevideo, Paul (LeAnne) Syring of Granite Falls, Judy (Gary) Enger of Hanley Falls, and Susan (Cory) Lindstrom of Hanley Falls; grandchildren: Andrew (Jessie) Syring, David (Melissa) Syring, Katrina and Kristie Syring, Jessica (Lance) Citrowske, Jamie (Galen) Lanners, Holly (Tyler) Kanten Travis (Emily) Enger, Amber Broers, Dylan, Blake, Thomas, and Nicholas Lindstrom; great grandchildren: Tyler, Ryan, Danielle and Madeline Syring, Mason Sherod, Lane, Liam, Lenox, and Lily Citrowske, Ella Mae Lanners, and Elizabeth Broers; sisters: Harriet (Donald) Schroepfer of St. Paul, and Delores (Gene) Koepke of Granite Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Clara Syring; father-in-law: Laurel Eldred; mother-in-law: Luverne Sims; brother: Harold Syring and a grandson in infancy Robert Enger.
