Corwin Kindelberger, 94, of Montevideo died on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. He was born on a farm in Lincoln County near Porter, Minnesota on August 5, 1921 to George and Thilda (Nomeland) Kindelberger. He was baptized and confirmed at the Porter Lutheran Church. He completed eight grades at District 6, Lincoln County and graduated from Canby High School in 1939. In 1941, he graduated from the Canby Teacher Training Department and taught a rural school in Lyon County for one year.
Corwin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 in the U.S. and European Theater. In 1946, he enlisted in the Army Reserve and was retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, AGC USAR in 1981.
After leaving active duty, he attended St. Olaf College for two years and graduated from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1951. After graduation, he was employed as a utility accountant by Northern States Power Co. in the Montevideo headquarters. He retired from Norther States Power co. in 1980.
Corwin was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Reserve Officers Assn, and Military Officers Assn. of America.
On October 19, 1956, he married Marion Golden at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hovland, Minnesota on the north shore of Lake Superior.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Kindelberger of Canby, a nephew, two nieces and a great nephew and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marion, and his brother Thurman.
