Connie Toftness

Connie Elaine Bang was born in Montevideo, July 13, 1949, to Alfred "Sonny" and Alvina "Tootie" (Walstrom) Bang. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1967. She attended Moorhead State University and earned a degree in Education. She was united in marriage to Dennis Toftness on March 18, 1972.
She began her career as an educator in the Montevideo School District where she taught math off and on for the next 30-plus years. Most of her teaching career was spent at the ALC (Area Learning Center), one of the first teachers to begin the program. She had a true passion for working with and encouraging students on the verge of giving up their education. When she wasn't teaching she co-managed the family business. Connie and Denny eventually moved to Alexandria to be close to their grandchildren, where she continued to help manage Coating Specialties.
Connie was a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, and grandma. She was always happy; especially when she was spending time with family. Connie loved teaching, fishing, golfing, shopping and pontooning on the lake. While she lived in Montevideo she was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church as the treasurer for several years. Connie was an avid Minnesota sports fan of the Twins, Vikings, Timberwolves, and Gophers.
Connie is survived by her husband, Dennis; her son, Chad (significant other, Erin Anspach); her two grandchildren, Andi and Blake Toftness; her three step-grandchildren, Drake, Foxx, and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sonny and Tootie Bang; and her sister, Pam Dahl.
