Colleen Hinrichs, age 80, of Montevideo passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Memorial Service will take place Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo, interment will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Clara City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ethel Colleen Hinrichs was born on April 22, 1942, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Dale and Mary (Hamlin) Palmer. Colleen was baptized on May 28, 1942 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Parsonage and later confirmed on May 6, 1956 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Atwater. She graduated in 1960 from the Atwater High School.
Upon graduation, Colleen moved to the Cities and started working there. On May 18, 1963, she was united in marriage to Norman Hinrichs. They were blessed with three children, Pamela, Kathryn and Kevin. Together they lived in various places and Colleen worked where ever they lived, including 3M, the beet plant, DeKalb and she retired from Innovex as an inspector.
Colleen’s faith was most important in her life, she loved to serve others thru volunteering with the Ladies Aid and helped with the preschoolers at Sunday School. She liked to garden, read and watch the Hallmark channel. Colleen enjoyed the outdoors and would spend her free time there. She had a heart of gold that came with a no-nonsense, feisty philosophy that carried her through life.
Colleen is survived by her children, Pam (Bill) Kitto of Flandreau, SD, Kathy Kessler of Brooten, Kevin Hinrichs of Montevideo; grandchildren, Travis Kitto, Troy Kitto, Justin Kitto, Anna (Bradley) Herrmann, Bridget Kessler, Michael Kessler, Cody Hinrichs; great grandchildren, Billy Kitto, Oliver Herrmann, Charlotte Herrmann, Zoe O’Brien; siblings, Emma (Richard) Hanson, Jeanette (Jim) Mayer, Doug (Virginia) Palmer, Patricia (Vic) Lund, Sandra (Alvin) Lewis; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Mary; husband, Norm; son-in-law, Bob Kessler; brother, Floyd Palmer.
