Charlotte Thews

January 1, 1753 — August 28, 2008

Charlotte Elaine Thews was born October 25, l920 in Danube, MN, the second of four children born to Charles and Lajunia Thews. On November ll, l920 she became a child of God through baptism at St Matthew's Lutheran Church in Danube, MN. On April l4, l935 she confirmed her faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, MN. She died at the Clara City Care Center on August 24, 2008 at the age of 87 years and 10 months. Charlotte attended elementary school in Clara City and in Sydney and Vail, Montana before the family settled permanently in Clara City. She graduated from Clara City High School in l938. Immediately following graduation she began work as a postal clerk at the Clara City Post Office. She served 39 years in the U.S. Postal Service and introduced three incoming postmasters to postal service procedures. At the time of her retirement she was the postmaster in Prinsburg, MN. Charlotte was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. She cherished growing up in a family that loved music and spent many evenings singing around the piano. She extended this love of music by singing in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Choir for over 50 years. She was very devoted to her family and loved family gatherings, which she often initiated. She seldom missed programs involving nieces and nephews. Charlotte made a home for and cared for both of her parents for many years prior to their respective deaths. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Iva and John Miller, her brother, Verl, her infant nephew, John Charles Miller and her nephew, Charles Thews. She is survived by her sister, Marlene Beekmann (Darold), her sister-in-law, Orpha Thews, long-time friend, Otto Mockel, nephews and nieces: Gerald Miller (Nancy), Jim Miller (Bonnie) Joel Miller, Jeanne (Miller) Murphy (Michael), Michael Thews (Brenda), Heidi (Beekmann) Weippert (John) and Timothy Beekmann (Patrick Durkin), grandnieces and nephews: Melissa (Miller) Connell (Mike), Michael Miller (Elizabeth), Holly (Miller) Lucke (Kyle), Heather (Miller) Fox, David and Andrew Thews and Nathanial and Allie Weippert, and great grand nephews and nieces: Aubrey and Brenna Connell, Owen Miller, Jacob and Emma Lucke and Caden and Tyler Fox.
