Charles Anthony ‘Charlie/Chuckles’ Savig was born on April 16, 1957, in Bloomington, the son of Roger and Margaret (Molacek) Savig. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Catholic elementary schools and graduated from Danube High School in 1975.
Charles attended Ridgewater College for auto mechanics and had been employed with several businesses including Allex’s Danube Oil Co., Savig Seed & Chemical Co., Gibson Trucking, JMS Trucking, Fagen Inc. and the Farmer’s Union Co-op of Echo.
Charles was united in marriage to Kim Eileen Kranitz on July 12, 1986, in Granite Falls. They made their home in the country east of Granite Falls. Charles was a jack of all trades, enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with his family and friends. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 23, 2014, while a patient at Fairview-University Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 57 years of age.
Surviving family include his wife Kim of Maynard; his children- Lexi and Timothy, both of Maynard; his siblings- Margaret Zupfer of Washington State, Jeff (& Diane) Savig of Dallas, NC, David (& Wanda) Savig of Fridley, Christene Savig of N. Mankato, Andrew (& Kari) Savig of Savage, and Matthew Savig of Willmar; sisters-in-law Kelly (& Randy) Johnson of Sacred Heart and Karri (& Michael) Berreau of Benson; his father-in-law Frank Kranitz of Granite Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Roger & Margaret Savig; a brother- Daniel Savig; a sister- Mary (in infancy); mother-in-law Arlys Kranitz and brother-in-law Michael Zupfer.
