Carolyn “Toots” Frederickson, 97, of Granite Falls passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Clara City Care Center. The family is planning a committal service for later this Spring.
Carolyn “Toots” Rebecca Frederickson was born November 21, 1924, the daughter of Theodore & Olga (Lundquist) Anderson in rural Hazel Run, Minnesota. She was the youngest of seven children. She was baptized at Hazel Run Lutheran Church and was a member there until 1935, when the family moved to Granite Falls. She was confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church and sang for many years in the church choir. She attended the Granite Falls Public Schools and graduated in 1942.
Following graduation, she was employed as a secretary and stenographer. Her last and longest employer was Granite Falls Lutheran Church where she was secretary to the pastors for over 36 years before her retirement in 1989. After retirement she was more active in her circle and quilting at church. Toots enjoyed playing cards and bingo and started knitting mittens and scarves, which she donated to Family Services for the needy. She became proficient at knitting sweaters and doing hardanger.
Toots was united in marriage to Donald Frederickson on August 16, 1952, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They were blessed with one son Gary Dean Frederickson, who was born on October 20, 1953.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son and siblings.
