Caroline Tammen

Caroline Cassie Tammen was born September 12, 1911, in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, the daughter of Henry & Jennie Gosseling. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on December 10, 1911, and confirmed on April 1, 1928. Caroline graduated from the Clara City High School. On December 14, 1948, Caroline was united in marriage to Louis Tammen in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Clara City area and moved to town following their retirement. Caroline loved traveling, taking bus trips and fishing with Louis. They also enjoyed their Sunday drives together. She was active at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, quilting club and spent a lot of time in her garden.Caroline moved into the Clara City Care Center on January 18, 2010. She passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. She was 98 years of age.She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis in 2004, her sister, Annie Dannen, and two brothers: Elmer and John Gosseling.
