Carol Joan Maus, was born on June 19, 1941, on the home farm near Maynard, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl & Agnes Maus. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Immanuel Lutheran Church and has been a lifelong, faithful member. She attended country school for five years and graduated from Maynard High School. Carol worked for several years at the ASC office in Montevideo and held other short term jobs prior to her last employment which was with the Wegdahl Farmer's Elevator. Declining health forced her to retire earlier than she wanted, but she always maintained a positive attitude.Carol loved to spend time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She enjoyed shopping, making divinity for her family at Christmas time and visiting with friends at Java River. While at Java River, she always made it a point to partake in their chocolate desserts and flavored coffee. As noted earlier, Carol was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Montevideo VFW Auxiliary.In the morning hours of Saturday, March 19, 2011, while a patient at St. Cloud Hospital, Carol was peacefully called from this life. She was 69 years of age. Surviving family include her sisters- Lafern Stegeman of Raymond and Vida LaBatte of Granite Falls; her brother- Francis (& Sheryl) Maus of Montevideo; nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister- Doris Abel; brothers-in-law, Henry Stegeman, Dale Abel & Ellis Nelson; a nephew- Roger Abel and a great nephew- Josh Abel.
