Carol Baucher, age 81, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Brookside Senior Living in Montevideo, Minnesota.
Carol was born on March 28, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the eldest of nine children, to Elmer & Elizabeth Searfoss.
After graduating high school, she took a job for a time as a stenographer for Luzerne County in the Juvenile Justice System.
She moved to Bloomsburg, PA around 1970, where she would take a job as secretary for the Athletic Department of the University there. It was in this town where she would meet the love of her life, William “Bill” Baucher. This marriage lasted 32 glorious years until Bill’s passing in 2014.
She retired, with Bill, to the seaside town of Lewes, Delaware in 1998. She was quick to get involved in the community, not only as an avid bingo player, her most passionate hobby, but also as a volunteer for Read Aloud in the public school system and also the local Senior Center.
In July of 2021, she moved to Minnesota to be closer to her youngest sister Donna. Although she only resided at Brookside for a short time, she absolutely loved living there and making new friends, residents and staff alike.
Carol made many friends along her path and will be dearly missed. Although no biological children of her own, she helped raise two stepdaughters. She was loved so by her family, who fondly called her ‘NaNa’.
Carol is survived by stepdaughters: Holly Sink, San Diego, CA and Lynn Hickey, Virginia Beach, VA; siblings: Liz Brislin, Wilkes-Barre, PA, David Searfoss, Hanover Township, PA, Chris Parlante, Naples, FL, Donna O’Malley, Montevideo, MN, 4 grandchildren: Josh Sink, Sam (Sink) Sparks, Leo Hickey & Maeve Hickey; 2 great grandsons: Roman & Maverick Sink.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Elizabeth; husband Bill; siblings: Bobby, Junior & Richard Searfoss & Virginia Kemmerer; nephews: Brian, Louis, Scott, Charles, Bobby, Kenny & Matthew.
