Bruno Asche was born May 31, 1923 to Ben and Minnie Asche in Rheiderland Township of Clara City. On May 3rd, 2017, at the age of 93, he died peacefully at the Clara City Assisted Living.
Bruno attended School District #55. After volunteering into the armed services in March of 1945, he was sent to Camp Robinson in Arkansas. After 6 weeks of basic training, he was shipped to the Philippines for two years. After his honorable discharge, Bruno returned to the states and worked one year at Variety Supply Camp (VSC) in Clara City where he met Grace Zimmer. He then worked one year on the farm of Clarence Molder.
In 1948, Bruno and Grace Gladys Zimmer were married. To this union three children were born, Connie Mae, Dale Elroy, and Debra Ann. After working for his father-in-law for one year, he farmed with Grace one mile west of Clara City. In 1967, Grace passed away from complications of diabetes and kidney failure. He met and married Alieda Meyer Kluver in 1970. For six years, they continued to farm by Clara City. In 1976, they moved to Willmar. Bruno continued to farm with his son Dale in Woods Township until his retirement.
Bruno enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake home he shared with his brother Henry. In 1962, he and Henry bought the lake cabin on Diamond Lake from their father. In 1988, after selling his share to Henry, he and Alieda bought a lake home on George Lake near Spicer.
After living in Willmar for twenty years, and yearning for the atmosphere of a small town, Bruno and Alieda built a home in Clara City. Bruno not only enjoyed fishing, he also enjoyed the times he and Alieda visited with their children; three from his first marriage and the six children that came along with his marriage to Alieda. He also enjoyed spending time with his sister Elsie and his brothers Henry and John.
Bruno is survived by his children: Connie Knapper of Clara City, Dale (Janet) Asche of Willmar and Debra (Gary) Slagter of Clara City, Lil (Dean) Anderson, Len Kluver, Rosie (Herman) Witte, Carol (Gene) Nelson, Jan Hansch and Karen (Mark) Behrends; 27 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and his special friend Sharon Bowman.
Preceding Bruno were his parents, Ben and Minnie, his first wife Grace, his second wife Alieda, son-in-law Lowell Knapper, and his siblings: John B. Asche, Elsie Bestge and Henry B. Asche.
