Brenda Rethlake

On Friday, May 5, 1967, Brenda Joy was born to John Herman and Nola Joy Sulflow at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital. Brenda was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church as an infant and later confirmed her faith at the same altar. Brenda was raised on the farm in rural Montevideo and Gluek community. She received her formal education from the Maynard High School, graduating with her class on June 5, 1986. On September 16, 1994, she and Randy Rethlake were joined in marriage at the St. Clara Catholic Church. Their union was blessed with two children. In addition to raising her children, Brenda worked at the Clara City Care Center from September 8, 1988 until February of 2011. She also worked for REM SW Services from 1992-1996 and 2001-2004, and Health Providers from 2004-2011. From 1996 until 2000, she lovingly cared for her grandmother. Brenda had a passion for life and for people. Her favorite things to do were visiting with family and friends.Cherishing her memory are her husband Randy and their children: Hillary and Brandon her mother Nola,and her brother Byron and his wife Pam; all of Clara City; and her stepson & daughter-in-law: Jon & Renee Stoltz of Mankato.Preceding her in death are her father John Sulflow, grandparents Arthur & Kay Hagen and Harold & Fern Sulflow, and her aunt Janice Goblirsh.
