Betty Mae Thompson Rinas was born on Saturday, November 14, 1925 in Spring Grove, Minnesota, daughter of Maurice and Blanche Fladager. She passed away on Friday March 19, 2010 at the Clara City Care Center. She attained the age of 84 years old.Betty was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove and later confirmed her Christian faith at the same altar. She attended school in Spring Grove graduating with her high school class. She went on to continue her formal education at the Minnesota School of Business after which she worked for Pillsbury Company in Minneapolis. On August 31, 1946 she was united in marriage to Virgil A.I. Thompson in Spring Grove. Their union was blessed with four children: Robert, John, Barbara, and James. In 1953, the family moved to Montevideo where Virgil served the community as pharmacist until his death on December 31, 1976.In January of 1984 Betty married Fred Rinas at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. The couple moved to Alexandria. After Fred's death in 2006, Betty moved to Willmar for a short time. Due to her declining health, she became a resident of Clara City Care Center where she lived until her death on Friday.Betty was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo actively serving in the Lydia Circle. She enjoyed golf, playing cards and especially cherished the time she spent with family and friends.Betty is survived by her children: Robert (Ruth) Thompson of Georgia; John (Annette) Thompson of Spicer; Barbara (David) Kise of Maryland; James (Jacque) Thompson of Montevideo; grandchildren: Kelly Thompson, Angela Flaaten, Jennifer John, Sherry Kise, Heather Johnson, Tera Chester, Michael Thompson, Christopher Thompson, and Victoria Thompson; great grandchildren: Jayden Chester, Madeline John, Aspen Thompson, Olivia John, Isaac Johnson; and her sister: Louise (Lee) Sundet of Florida.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil and her husband Fred.
